The Sheridan County Community Foundation awarded grants in October and November 2024.
In October, a $1,000.00 grant was awarded to the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department to assist in the purchase of new ballistic vests for law enforcement officers. The grant was awarded with funds from the SCCF managed Dane G. Hansen Community Pass-through Grant Fund.
The Foundation also awarded two $500.00 “surprise” grants each to the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department and Hoxie’s local Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas center during the Match Month Dueling Pianos event held in Hoxie on Nov. 23, 2024. These funds were made possible from the annual earnings of the Foundation’s large endowed “Cultivate Sheridan County Fund” which was established through the annual Match Month campaigns held each year in November.
At the event, two gold stars were hidden below the attendee chairs. Once found, the attendees were able to select from a list of local eligible non-profits to which to grant the funds.
Kim Munk was the lucky finder of one star and elected to award a grant to DSNWK. James Brackett, Colby, was the second lucky attendee who found a star. He selected to award a grant to the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department in honor of his friend, Undersheriff Brian Diercks
