Writer: Karl PrattKarl Pratt

The Sheridan County Community Foundation (SCCF) is delighted to announce that it will host over 30 community foundation professionals from across the state of Kansas for the Kansas Association of Community Foundations' (KACF) Western Kansas Region 1 Meeting on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Hoxie.

KACF, established in 2005 by dedicated volunteers representing community foundations statewide, is a membership organization committed to strengthening and promoting community philanthropy in Kansas. The association focuses on philanthropy, peer-learning, and statewide partnerships, boasting 116 members as of 2024, collectively holding over $1.7 billion in assets and annually awarding $122 million in grants and scholarships.

SCCF's Executive Director, Karl Pratt, a former KACF board member, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event: “We are honored to host this year's Region 1 Meeting in Hoxie. It's a wonderful opportunity for community foundation professionals to come together, share insights, and strengthen our collective impact across Kansas. It’s also a privilege to have the opportunity to bring folks in from outside of the area to check out our communities, businesses, and amenities in Sheridan County.”

The meeting will feature sessions on engaging the next generation of donors, collaborating with area non-profits, and promoting foundation work through media engagement. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour local facilities, including the Sheridan County Daycare Duplex and Hoxie Community Schools Daycare.

Registration is limited to KACF-member community foundation staff and board members and be found online through April 1 at www.growsheridancounty.org/events.

The meeting will be held in Hoxie at Bottle KAP Studios, 721 Main St.
